Nokia have announced the official price of the Nokia Booklet to be €575 which works out at $816 USD pre subsidized. It is quite a high price but due to the integrated data connection we could see many mobile phone providers subsidizing it quite a bit to shift units when it is launched.

SlashGear also managed to get a hands-on with the device showing a pre-production unit. The pre-production unit was running Windows 7 and there was a bit of occasional sluggishness although this could be just related to drivers not being fully complete for the final version.

The Nokia Booklet runs an Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor and Slashgear reported that it has a keyboard that’s one of the best they have seen on a netbook sized device. Keys feel great and the spacing is also good too. The trackpad was reported as being large with well spaced buttons.

Battery wise it has a 3,840mAh battery that is claimed to have up to 12 hours of usage. I suspect that to get the full 12 hours you will need to do some very lightweight work like wordprocessing with screen brightness on the lowest and wireless switched off. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was capable of at least 8 hours using wireless. Check out a full set of pictures of the Booklet over on SlashGear.

Expect more details soon of this fantastic netbook/booklet. Via: Slashgear

However, today we now see some live shots that include the back of the casing and a comparison with a Nokia E71 to give you a feel for the size of the device.

Pocket-Lint have also got some details on the specs from Intel. The Booklet is to include an Intel 1.6GHz Atom Z530 chipset that will also be responsible for powering the 720p HD screen. Unfortunately the Atom chipset isn’t the best for the job in the case of HD, but it still does do the job and will help keep costs down. Two more pictures after the jump.

Today the Nokia Booklet was announced and already, Nokia have posted a video (a rendering) on Youtube giving us a look at what it’s all about. The video describes the Booklet as beautifully designed and highly durable. Due to the aluminium casing the booklet has a shiny appearance that looks quite sleek.

The screen is catch-less allowing it to be opened quickly and when opening, it reveals a chiclet style keyboard. Connectivity is key on this computer and the built in 3G should see you surfing at a decent speed when you are out of a wi-fi hotspot.

In the video, wireless connectivity speed is also confirmed at 802.11n which allows for speeds up to 144Mbps. Integration with the Nokia Music store is also seen on the video which allows you to grab music wherever you are. Nokia will be providing a way to easily sync to your mobile phone although it’s unclear if it’s the usual Nokia suite that is usually used. Of course, with it having Windows 7 (we assume) installed then syncing to any phone shouldn’t really be a problem.

Check the video out below…

Nokia have finally unveiled information on their new netbook sized device. It is to be named the Nokia Booklet 3G and from the specs that have been revealed, it seems to be a netbook worth looking out for.

The Booklet 3G is a Windows based machine that is powered by an Intel Atom Processor and battery wise it has an impressive 12 hour life although that is achieved through light usage.

The Booklet’s screen measures 10.1 inches and is in a HD format. A HDMI port is also included allowing you to connect it up to a HDTV or HD projector. The shell of the Booklet is made of aluminium and is just 2cm thin. It weighs are 1 kilo. As Nokia have created this netbook it’s naturally expected to have great connectivity. In this case it has 3G/HSDPA that can pick up a signal and let you browse in many places. The SIM card slot is hot-swappable allowing you to quickly switch networks if needed without switching the device off. Other connectivity options include bluetooth and Wi-Fi. An SD card slot is also included in the unit allowing you to easily transfer pictures from your digital camera.

The Booklet has aGPS built in that works along-side Ovi Maps. A front-facing webcam can also be used to make video calls. Although these are the official details, more details will be revealed next week at Nokia World to be held on September 2nd.
